How to Setup Dialup for Windows ME

• From the Start menu, click Settings, and choose Dial-Up Networking.

  

• In the Dialup Networking window, double click on the Make New Connection icon.

Make New Connection Wizard

• In the Type a name for the computer you are dialing: input box, please type cyberMIND Dialup.
  

• Under Select a device, please make sure your current modem is selected. If you are unsure how to do so, please contact our office.
  

• Click on the Next button

• Please enter the area code for the number given you into the Area code input box
  

• Type the telephone number given to you into the Telephone number: input box.
  

• Please make sure the Country code: is set to United States of America
  

• Click on the Next button

• Congratulations! You have completed the Dialup Networking Wizard successfully. To save the new connection, Click on the Finish button.
  

• Next, there will be a few steps to configure your computer to use this new connection.

• Please close out all open windows and programs.
  

• Click on the Start button.
  

• Move your mouse pointer over the Settings menu.
  

• Once the pop-up menu appears, move your mouse pointer over to Control Panel and click the left mouse button

• Locate and double-click on the Internet Options icon (note: It may simply be called Internet).

• Once the Internet Properties window appears, click on the Connections tab.
  

• Under the Dialup settings section, select the cyberMIND Dialup connection you created.
  

• After you have selected the connection, click on the Set Default button located on the right side about halfway down in the Internet Properties window. If this button cannot be clicked, then the new connection has already been set as the default.
  

• To the left of the Set Default button, click on the Always dial my default connection radio button.
  

• Once both steps 3 and 4 are done, click on the Settings button (located directly above the Set Default button).

• In the Automatic configuration and Proxy server sections, make sure that none of the available options are selected.
  

• Under the Dialup settings section, type your Username into the Username input box and then type your password into the Password input box.
  

• Click on the Properties button located to the right of the Username input box.

• Click on the Server Types tab.
  

• In the Advanced options section, make sure that only the Enable software compression option is checked.
  

• In the Allowed network protocols section, make sure that only the TCP/IP option is checked
  

• Click the OK button.

Congratulations! You have finished setting up your computer to use you new cyberMIND dial-up account. To complete the process, you need only click on the OK buttons for each of the still open windows. After that has been done, you can access the Internet by simply double-clicking on either Internet Explorer or the Netscape icons.
