How to Setup Dialup for Windows NT

Creating a PPP Phone Book Entry

• From the Start button, go to the Accessories menu (From Programs). From there, select the Dial-Up Networking menu item.
  

• From the window that popped up, click the New button.
  
  
  
  

• You will now see the Phone Book window. It has several tabs. Select the Basic tab.
  
  

• Type cyberMIND Dialup into the Entry name: box. To get the phone number for your area, please contact cyberMIND at 1-877-373-6680 or you can find the numbers at www.cybermind-usa.net/support.htm.
  
  

• Uncheck Use Telephony Dialing Properties and Use another port if busy.

• Alter the modem configuration by clicking the Configure button. The following items should be set, but they are not imperative.
  

• Enable Modem Error Control should be checked
  

• Enable Modem Compression should be checked
  

• Select the highest possible baud rate your modem can run at.

• Click the Server tab and set the following items as listed.

• Dial-Up Server Type = PPP: Windows NT, Windows®95 Plus, Internet
  

• Network Protocols : Only TCP/IP is checked
  

• Enable Software Compression : Checked
  

• Enable PPP LCP extensions : Checked
  

• Setup TCP/IP Settings from the Server tab by clicking the button TCP/IP

Settings. The following must be set...

• Server Assigned IP Address : Checked
  

• Server assigned Name Server Addresses
  

• Use IP header Compression and Use default gateway on remote network both checked

• From the Script tab, make sure the None is Checked.

• From the Security tab, check the Accept any authentication including clear text radio button. - You are finished!

Logging in

• Click the Start button
  

• Select the Programs entry, then from the new menu select the Accessories entry.
  

• On this menu select the Dial-Up Networking item.
  

• From the Dial-Up Networking window, select the PPP entry you created and click the Dial button.
  

• The login window will show the status of the login process. Once login is complete you can run things like Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc...
